Middle Wheel Installation

The 50/50 Balance frames are designed to be skated three ways; flat, anti rocker or with Juice Blocks. We’ve discovered that the initial run of frames might be difficult to install wheels in the middle with the included frame spacers. This does not impact Juice Blocks, so if you were planning to ride Juice Blocks there’s no issue.

A brief explanation...

The material we’re using for the production frames is different than the material we used for the samples, and cooled differently. This resulted in the frame walls near the h-block being closer together, 27mm vs 28mm. The hardware was tested and confirmed using the sample frame.

The factory assumed that people would be skating Juice Blocks, and didn’t test nor prepare the frames to ride flat. This was an oversight in communication as a result of being 8 years since the last run. We’re working with the factory to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

We’ve decided to send out the frames to get them in your hands as soon as possible, but there are two issues we’ve identified that you need to be aware of:

The axle holes for the middle wheels weren’t cleaned after production

You might have a problem placing a frame spacer in the middle axle holes as some weren’t deburred (cleaned) after production. If the frame spacer won’t fit into the axle hole, use some scissors or a small knife to clean out the axle hole. It’s only on the inside wall where there might be a problem.

The frame spacer design makes it difficult to install the middle wheels

Some wheels might be too thick to fit in the middle wheels. This is due to the distance between the frame walls, and the design of the frame spacer. If you can’t fit your wheels in the middle with the frame spacers we’ve provided, here are some options:

  1. Other frame spacers might work, for sure Valo spacers will work, so if you have any other frames you can try to swap the spacers.
  2. We will have some new frame spacers in stock soon that will work. Please fill out this form with your mailing address and we’ll mail new frame spacers to you.

I’d like to apologize for this situation happening. I discovered the problem during an Instagram live stream unboxing, which was a bit embarrassing. Rest assured we’re going to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Thank you for believing in us and in the future of blading.
